Bonfire of the Vanities
Chris Mallick made a fortune processing online porn payments. Then he traded it all to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker. The $32 million movie he made - a narcissistic account of his life - bombed. Then his multi-million dollar company mysteriously imploded, leaving thousands of customers asking "where's our money?" This wasn't how the story was supposed to end.
I know I've put this in the Crime section, but the truth is, Chris Mallick has never been convicted or even charged of a crime here. He failed to prove where he earned the money to fund his Hollywood vanity project and a vast amount money has gone missing, money which he could access quite easily, though he brazenly lied about that part. Occam's Razor may not be a valid legal argument, but there were a lot of sources that didn't go on the record here, sources that only shed further and more damning suspicion on the slippery Mr Mallick. One day this story will out. And I'm going to be blogging about this. This story isn't over.
